Welsh National Park Posters
Illustration, PersonalIn 2022 the Park Authority voted to use the original Welsh names for all official communications regarding Eryri/ Snowdonia and Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon. I believe this was an excellent decision as doing so highlights and celebrates the Welsh language and cultural heritage of this unique place. Equally as a Welsh language learner I understand that the language can at times be confusing, and without knowing the alphabet, pronouncing words can be pretty difficult. It was for this reason I wanted to create a poster to support the shift to using Welsh names that doubles up as a handy reminder for those who haven't yet wrapped their heads around the change or pronunciation.
This design also features a variety of important local plant and moss species that can be found in or around Yr Wyddfa, including the rare and endangered Lili'r Wyddfa (The Snowdon Lily), Tormaen siobynnog (Tufted Saxifrage) and Heboglys Yryri (Snowdonia Hawkweed).
